Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed Michelle A. Scarpella vice president of F/A-18 programs for its Strike and Surveillance Systems Division, a component of the company's Aerospace Systems sector.
In this position, Scarpella is responsible for all aspects of the F/A-18 program. As principal F/A-18 subcontractor to The Boeing Company, Northrop Grumman designs and produces the aircraft's entire center/aft fuselage, integrates all associated subsystems and conducts after-delivery product support. The position also includes management of legacy F-5 and T-38 aircraft programs.
Scarpella joined the company in 1987 and has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility in program management, global supply chain and quality on a number of critical programs including the F/A-18, B-2 Spirit bomber, E-8C Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) and E-2C Hawkeye.
She most recently served as director and deputy F/A-18 program manager. Northrop Grumman has delivered more than 1,890 fuselage shipsets for all models of the F/A-18, including the earlier F/A-18A-D Hornet and now the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler.
Scarpella earned her bachelor's degree in human services from California State University, Fullerton. GE et SAFRAN ont annoncé la nomination de Steve Walters au poste de président de leur joint venture Middle River Aircraft Systems/Aircelle qui, dans le cadre d’une coopération, développera, produira et assurera le support client des nacelles destinées à de futures applications des moteurs de CFM International.
Steve Walters sera basé aux USA à Cincinnati, dans l’Ohio, au siège de cette joint venture qui sera gérée sur une base 50/50 par Middle River Aircraft Systems, filiale de GE, et Aircelle, filiale de SAFRAN.

Young has been appointed to fill the vacancies that will be created with the resignation of W. Steve Albrecht, who has notified SkyWest of his intention to resign as a director of SkyWest, Inc., SkyWest Airlines, Inc. and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc., effective June 30, 2009.
Young is currently the 14th president of the University of Utah. Prior to his appointment at the University of Utah, he was Dean of the George Washington University Law School (1998-2004). Before that, he was the Fuyo Professor of Japanese Law and Legal Institutions and Director of the Center of Japanese Legal Studies and the Center for Korean Legal Studies at Columbia University (1978-1998). In the administration of President George H. W. Bush, he served as Ambassador for Trade and Environmental Affairs and Deputy Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs in the U.S. Department of State. He has also served as a member of the Committee on International Judicial Relations of the Judicial Conference of the United States. President Young is widely recognized for his academic work and his advocacy on behalf of international human rights. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University (B.A., 1973) and Harvard Law School (J.D., 1976), where he served as a note Editor of the Harvard Law Review. After graduation from law school, he served as a Law Clerk to then Associate Justice William H. Michel Mathieu, 58, is a graduate of École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications (ENST), Paris. Michel Mathieu joined Thales in 1977 as a development engineer in the arena of Air Traffic Control. In 1997, Michel Mathieu was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Airsys ATM, the jointventure between Thales and Siemens. In 2003, he was appointed SVP, Thales’s Air Defence Business Group. In 2005, he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of ThalesRaytheonSystems Ltd. Since 2009, he is SVP, Solutions for Aircraft Sector, within the Aerospace Division.

Janey has nearly 30 years of experience in the information technology industry. Prior to joining Harris, she spent almost six years in various leadership roles with Northrop Grumman supporting the company's commercial, state and local business.
She is a member of Women in Technology and serves on the board of the Virginia High-Tech Partnership, the Executive Advisory Board of the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority and is a member of the Information Technology Association of America's State and Local Executive Committee. Janey has been recognized by the Career Communications Group for significant achievement and was awarded its 2003 Women of Color, Technology and Business President's Award.

A 22-year veteran of Alaska Airlines, Dobbs previously served as vice president of human resources, strategy and culture. She is a member of the Alaska Air Group Executive Committee, which is responsible for leadership and strategy for Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air. She also is a key proponent of the airline's diversity and inclusion initiatives.
In her new role, Dobbs will add responsibility for the airline's labor relations function, working with Alaska's six union groups representing a majority of the airline's employees, and will direct the airline's employee benefits, employee relations, training and development, recruitment, workers compensation and employee travel services departments.
"Kelley brings tremendous expertise and background to this new role," said Bill Ayer, chairman and CEO of Alaska Airlines. "She is a proven leader with a strong ability to inspire and move people to action. She will play a significant role as we continue to make Alaska Airlines a great place to work and a great airline for customers."
Dobbs is replacing Dennis Hamel, who will retire Oct. 1. A 25-year veteran of Alaska Airlines, Hamel served as manager of employment, assistant vice president of employee relations and, since 1995, as vice president of human resources. His responsibilities were expanded to include labor relations in 2004. He led the airline's effort to restructure its labor agreements to reflect post-9/11 market realities and was responsible for Alaska's recent successful negotiation of a new four-year contract with its pilots and two-year contract extension with its flight attendants. He also helped create the company's Employee Assistance Fund to support Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air employees in need due to a medical or financial crisis.
Dobbs has served in a variety of roles in her career with Alaska Airlines, on the frontline and in management. She holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Washington. She serves on the Port Jobs Board of Directors and the United Negro College Fund Pacific Northwest Advisory Board. Boeing has named Ihssane Mounir vice president of Sales for Latin America and Africa, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The new position is an expansion of Mounir's previous role as vice president of Sales for Latin America, which he has held since November 2008.
Mounir reports directly to Marlin Dailey, vice president of Sales for Boeing Commercial Airplanes worldwide.
Before his Latin America post, Mounir was London business director, and deputy vice president for Europe, Russia and Central Asia Sales. Earlier experience includes an assignment as Boeing sales director for the British Airways account.
Prior to joining the Sales organization in Europe, Mounir served as sales director for East and West Africa and Morocco.
As director of International Sales, Mounir was responsible for directing and leading the processes and people involved in promoting the sale of Commercial Airplanes products and services and for managing business relationships with airlines, government and other stakeholders in his regions of responsibility.
Mounir joined Boeing as a senior aerodynamics engineer in 1997 and served in a number of key roles in product analysis and strategy, marketing analysis and international sales.
Prior to joining Boeing, Mounir was a research associate and engineering lecturer at Wichita State University. He authored many papers in the fields of experimental and applied aerodynamics and has won numerous awards from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics for his research.

Mikkelsen is a successful and experienced project manager and engineer with many years of airport and IT experience. As Director of Federal Energy Efficiency Programs, Billings will support business development and program operations related to Lockheed Martin’s pursuits of Federal Energy Savings Performance Contracts.
Prior to his new role, Billings was the Acting Assistant Secretary of the United States Air Force for Installations, Environment & Logistics. He was responsible for managing facilities and programs in support of the Air Force’s 188 installations worldwide, including supply chain logistics, infrastructure and environmental, safety and occupational health to support the war fighters and their families. As the senior energy official, Billings led the Air Force Energy Strategy and was focused on helping reduce its energy consumption in support of DoD and Presidential Directives for greater energy independence and national security. His responsibilities included developing and mandating energy strategy and policies, meeting energy goals, reporting the energy security posture, and managing the Air Force’s culture change related to energy usage.
"Kevin has a wide-range of experience managing energy reduction initiatives, including expertise in change management. He will be instrumental in helping Lockheed Martin develop and deliver energy efficiency solutions to our federal customers," said Tom Grumbly, Lockheed Martin’s vice president of Energy and Security Services.
In December of 2008, Lockheed Martin was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to compete for future IDIQ task orders under its Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPC). Lockheed Martin is approved to help the Federal government reduce its energy costs and environmental impact through increased energy efficiency, additional use of renewable energy, and improved utility management decisions at Federal sites. All totaled, the tasks will have a maximum ceiling value of $80 billion over the 11-year period of the contract.
Before joining the Air Force in 2007, Billings had held a series of leadership positions in the private sector, with nonprofit organizations, and at the federal government. His experience includes Enterra Solutions, mCapitol Management, ICF Kaiser International, Westinghouse Electric Corporation, The American Nuclear Energy Council and staff work within the House of Representatives. Billings has a Bachelor’s of Arts in Political Science from the University of Puget Sound and has participated in the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business Executive Development Program.

Mr. Casolini takes over from Aloysius Rauen, who left the company on 30th April.
Born in 1945 , Mr. Casolini began his career as an officer in the Italian Air Force, and after different roles within the air force, it was in this capacity that he first lived and worked in Germany. In 1978, he joined NAMMA (NATO MRCA Management Agency) in Munich, and was responsible for aircraft equipment qualification.
Mr Casolini left the Italian Air Force in 1987 and in 1989 joined Aeritalia (later Alenia Aeronautica), where he was assigned to the company’s National Marketing and Sales Division. In 2002, he was appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial for Military Air Systems, the position from which he now joins Eurofighter. Mr Casolini has a long and deep association with the company and was until this appointment a member of its Supervisory Board since 2006.

Effective 1 June 2009, Peter Gerber (45) has been nominated for a seat on the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo by the steering committee of the Company’s Supervisory Board. As Board Member Finance and Human Resources and as Labour Director, he will complete the Executive Board led by Chairman Carsten Spohr. Peter Gerber succeeds Dr. Roland Busch, who will in future head the Finance and Human Resources division on the Lufthansa Passenger Airlines Board.
Peter Gerber was appointed to his present post as Senior Vice President Corporate Industrial Relations and Social Security in December 2004. He began his career at Lufthansa in the personnel and legal affairs departments in 1992. His responsibilities there were, among others, chiefly concerned with developing a new retirement pension scheme and the Miles & More frequent flyer programme. He later occupied various other positions at the Group, among them as head of the corporate settlement, fees and charges department, as project manager of the D-Check project – a Group wide programme to safeguard results, and as head of corporate strategy. Since June 2003, Peter Gerber has also represented Lufthansa on the “Air Traffic for Germany“ project. Born on 1 March 1964, Peter Gerber studied law and business management in Gießen and in Hagen. Dr. Holger Hätty (50) has been appointed by the SWISS Board of Directors, with effect from 1 June 2009, as Chief Commercial Officer at Swiss International Air Lines charged with responsibility for all revenue, distribution, marketing and product management activities. He is moving to SWISS, where Harry Hohmeister takes over as CEO on 1 July 2009, from his position on the Board of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines.
Dr. Holger Hätty has been on the Board of Lufthansa Passenger Airlines since 1 January 2004, where he is currently responsible as Executive Vice President for overall strategy in the passenger business as well as the dimensioning and allocation of the fleet, alliances and holdings, IT, procurement and launch management of the Airbus A380. He began his career at Lufthansa in 1995 by setting up the product and service management department. As departmental director, he was responsible for developing concepts for in-flight and ground services as well as for cabin furnishing and equipment. From 1999 prior to his appointment to the Airline Board, Dr. Holger Hätty was in charge of strategic corporate development and organisation, reporting direct to the Chairman of the Lufthansa Executive Board.
Before joining Lufthansa, Dr. Holger Hätty was employed from 1989 to 1992 as project manager at Roland Berger & Partner, advising on strategy in the consumer goods, services and retail industries. He subsequently moved to the car rental firm Sixt AG, Munich, in charge of marketing and communications up to 1995. Dr. Holger Hätty graduated in business management at Erlangen-Nuremberg University. He then took a doctorate (Dr. rer pol.) in 1988 while working as research assistant at the University’s marketing faculty.
