There are important challenges facing the entire aviation industry, such as climate change, and these require a cross-industry approach. I am committed to making sure that BAG is at the centre of these debates and representing all the companies involved.
"I also pay tribute to Malcolm Trigg's contribution in moving BAG forward. I am very much looking forward to building on the successes that BAG has achieved under Malcolm with the assistance of the hardworking staff of the Group.
"We have made the services we currently offer more widely available to a larger group of companies and reinforced BAG's role as the authoritative voice of the UK airport services industry. Our focus as we go forward has to be on maximising commercial opportunities for our members at home and abroad - and I am to ensure that we do just that." | | Date parution : 17/09/2008 | | catégorie : Nominations | | Modifier votre profil

| | LE GALL Jean-Yves | | Chairman & Chief Executive Officer | | Arianespace |
|
A record-breaking year
The shareholders of Arianespace approved the financial statements for 2006, showing sales of 983 million euros. Arianespace posted a profit for the fourth year in a row (6.3 million euros), despite a euro/dollar exchange rate which is still very unfavorable to the company's business.
These results reflect both the growth in business volume, and the company's technical and commercial successes. Arianespace logged record-breaking performance in 2006. With five Ariane 5 ECA launches from the Guiana Space Center and two Soyuz launches from the Baikonur cosmodrome, Arianespace and subsidiary Starsem orbited twelve satellites and one technology payload. At the same time, Arianespace signed twelve new launch Service & Solutions contracts, thus ensuring a constant backlog of about forty satellites to be launched, equal to more than three years of workload for all suppliers.
A new management
The Board of Directors named Jean-Yves Le Gall, previously Chief Executive Officer, as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer. The members of the Board and, particularly the representative of the European Space Agency, expressed their satisfaction with Arianespace's current situation and their confidence in the new Chairman & CEO to lead Arianespace in meeting the new challenges facing the company over the next five years, while maintaining continuity with past actions. | | Date parution : 24/04/2007 | | catégorie : Nominations | | Modifier votre profil

Mr. Leahy led the commercial activities that resulted in the successful launch of the new Airbus flagship, the A380-800 passenger aircraft and the A380-800F freighter aircraft. These two new superjumbos now set the standards for very large aircraft in the 21st Century. He is also leading the sales campaigns for the all-new A350-800 and A350-900 twin-engine widebodies.
Mr. Leahy worked for seven years in marketing at Piper Aircraft before joining Airbus North America in January 1985. He became head of sales in 1988 and then became President of Airbus North America, where his responsibilities included sales and marketing, as well as sales finance and contracts activities for the important American and Canadian markets. Mr. Leahy was responsible for the penetration of the strategic North American market, where most major US airlines are now Airbus customers.
Mr. Leahy has an MBA from Syracuse University with concentration in both Finance and Transportation Management and a BA from Fordham University with a dual major in Communications and Philosophy. He is also a licensed multi-engine commercial pilot and a former flight instructor with more than 3,700 hours of flying time.
He was born in New York in August 1950 and is married with three children. His hobbies include, in addition to selling aircraft, sailing and scuba diving.

| | LERCH Hans 57 ans | | Chairman of the Board of Directors | | SR Technics |
|
SR Technics will see a change at the top of its executive management in January 2008: Hans Lerch is to focus on his mandate as Chairman of the Board of Directors, and will step down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the end of this year. He will be succeeded as CEO by Bernd Kessler.
Hans Lerch declared soon after assuming the position as CEO of SR Technics that he intended to serve in this executive function for a maximum of three years. He is now carrying out his intention: from January 1, 2008, Lerch, who is 57 years old and a Swiss national, will focus on serving as Chairman of the Board of the SR Technics Group, and will hand the CEO function to Bernd Kessler. Lerch has been a member of the SR Technics Board of Directors since 2002 and has served as its Chairman since the company was sold to a United Arab Emirates-based consortium a year ago. He assumed the position of CEO of SR Technics at the end of 2005. Prior to this, he had spent almost 35 years with Kuoni, the international travel corporation, the last of them as Group CEO and a member of its board of directors.
As CEO of SR Technics, Hans Lerch was instrumental in the company’s successful sale to the UAE-based consortium after its previous owners 3i and Star Capital had announced
their intention to dispose of their shareholdings at the beginning of 2006. Since then, as Chairman & CEO, he has steadily developed the collaboration with new owners Mubadala Development, Dubai Aerospace Enterprise and Istithmar. To provide a firm foundation for SR Technics further development, Lerch has consolidated the rapid growth that the
company had undergone since it became independent from the Swissair Group in 2002 by adopting a supranational organisational structure and accelerating the standardising of
processes groupwide.
“The collaboration between our new owners and our management is now well in place, and the actions we have taken to further our own internal consolidation are starting to
deliver results,” Hans Lerch explains. “The next phase in SR Technics’ development,
continuing our growth strategy with a prime emphasis on the rapidly-expanding markets in
the Middle East and Asia, will now be conducted under the executive leadership of a proven industry specialist.” | | Date parution : 19/10/2007 | | catégorie : Nominations | | Modifier votre profil

Boeing Senior Vice President and General Counsel Douglas Bain Retires
* U.S. Court of Appeals Judge J. Michael Luttig to Succeed Bain
CHICAGO, May 10, 2006 -- Douglas G. Bain, Boeing senior vice president and general counsel, has announced his plans to retire from the company, effective July 1.
Judge J. Michael Luttig of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit will succeed Bain. As senior vice president and general counsel, Judge Luttig will report directly to Boeing Chairman, President, and CEO W. James McNerney, Jr., and will be a member of the company's Executive Council.
McNerney expressed his appreciation for Bain's contributions over his 24-year career, particularly during the past few years of legal challenges. "Doug built a team that has helped resolve extremely difficult issues for the company. Through his strong leadership, the legal team has fostered a culture of excellence and teamwork that will serve us well as we move forward," he said.
Bain, 57, joined the Boeing Corporate Law Department in 1982. He served for 14 years as senior counsel and then assistant general counsel. For three years, he was vice president of legal, contracts, ethics and government relations for Boeing Commercial Airplanes before returning to Corporate as general counsel in November 1999.
Judge Luttig, 51, has served on the U.S. Court of Appeals for 15 years, since his appointment by President George H. W. Bush in 1991. At the time of his appointment, Judge Luttig was the youngest federal appeals court judge in the country. Prior to his appointment to the federal bench, he served as assistant attorney general of the United States and counselor to the attorney general at the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Before beginning his service at the Department of Justice, Judge Luttig was associated with the New York law firm of Davis Polk & Wardwell in the firm's Washington, D.C. offices. Previously, Judge Luttig had served as assistant counsel at the White House during the administration of President Reagan and was special assistant to the chief justice of the United States from 1984 to 1985. From 1982 to 1983, Judge Luttig served as a law clerk to then-Judge Antonin Scalia of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and from 1983 to 1984, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Warren E. Burger, chief justice of the United States.
"Judge Luttig is one of the most respected judges in the nation and is widely regarded as one of the most independent judges on the federal bench," McNerney said. "He has long been considered one of the leading candidates for appointment to the Supreme Court. Having served in the White House, the Department of Justice, and on the federal bench, he brings unique experience to Boeing, including significant experience in the defense and national security arenas. We are both pleased and proud that he will be part of the Boeing team."
Judge Luttig delivered his letter of resignation from the U.S. Court of Appeals to the White House this morning.
Judge Luttig was born on June 13, 1954, in Tyler, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976 from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va, and a Juris Doctorate degree in 1981 from the University of Virginia School of Law.
Judge Luttig and his wife, Elizabeth, have two children, a daughter, Morgan, and a son, John. The family will relocate to the Chicago area from their current residence in Virginia.
