Northrop Grumman Corporation ( has appointed Paul K. Russell Vice President of the newly-created Space business area within the company's Navigation Systems Division, effective immediately.
In his new position, Russell will be responsible for overall leadership of the division's inertial measurement unit programs and products for space applications, including Northrop Grumman's industry-leading Scalable Space Inertial Reference Unit (Scalable SIRU™).
Russell joined Northrop Grumman in 2005 as director of the company's Azusa, Calif., site where he was responsible for oversight of all functional activities and facilities. He has an extensive executive management background in systems engineering, space technology and product management. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, Russell was director of systems engineering for Space Systems/Loral, with responsibility for leading the systems engineering development of commercial satellite systems and supporting a variety of fixed and direct broadcast applications. Most recently, he served as vice president of engineering and manufacturing for the western region of Northrop Grumman's Electronic Systems sector.
Russell earned a bachelor's degree in physics from Willamette University and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Santa Clara University. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.

Angelo Quabba has been appointed chief financial officer (CFO) of SR Technics and a Member of the Group’s Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
Quabba took up the post on 1 March, succeeding former CFO James Stewart – who became CEO on 1 February – and to whom Quabba reports directly.
Quabba joined SR Technics in July 2007 as head of aircraft services–controlling. On 1 December 2008, he was appointed head of division–controlling components and since October 2009 he has been senior vice-president–commercial controlling.
Quabba has extensive expertise and experience in the fields of finance and controlling. Before joining SR Technics he was CFO in the customer business centre at Honeywell Analytics in Uster, near Zurich.

Crane Aerospace & Electronics, a segment of Crane Co., has announced the promotion of Brian Barrett as Vice President, Aftermarket Services for the Aerospace Group.
In this role, Barrett is responsible for leading efforts to improve customer service levels and for strategically growing Crane’s worldwide spares and Repair and Overhaul (R&O) business. He is also responsible for the Aerospace Group’s global product support organization. Barrett is located in Burbank, California.
Prior to being appointed Vice President, Aftermarket Services, Barrett held the position of Director of Repair and Overhaul Services for Crane Aerospace & Electronics. Before joining Crane, he spent nine years with the Triumph Group, most recently in the role of Division President for the Valencia, California site of Triumph Actuation Systems. In this role, Barrett was also responsible for the FAA repair station. Prior to working with Triumph, Barrett was the Director of Aftermarket Services Business Development for Curtiss Wright Flight Controls and before that he served as the Director of Aftermarket for Menasco Landing Gear Overhaul Division. Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed Elizabeth D. Iversen sector vice president and general manager of its Navigation Systems Division, effective today.
In her new position, Iversen will have executive responsibility for all Navigation Systems Division business areas, programs and operations at company facilities in Woodland Hills, Calif.; Salt Lake City; Freiberg, Germany; and Pomezia, Italy.
Northrop Grumman's Navigation Systems Division designs and develops situational-awareness products and integrated avionics for international and domestic defense and commercial markets, navigation and positioning systems and sensors for space and high-value platforms, navigation-grade and tactical-grade inertial systems, fiber-optic gyro systems designed to customer requirements, underwater fiber-optic sensors, identification friend-or-foe interrogators, cockpit displays and computers, and logistics support products and services.
Iversen joined the company in 2005 as sector vice president of mission assurance for Northrop Grumman's Baltimore-based Electronic Systems sector. She has over 25 years of leadership experience with commercial and defense companies including Johnson & Johnson, GE, Gateway Computer, TRW and Hughes Aircraft Company. She brings expertise in operations management, supply change management, quality and reliability assurance, customer service, and lean six sigma implementation. Prior to joining Northrop Grumman, she served as vice president of worldwide process excellence for Johnson & Johnson.
Iversen earned her bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business management and industrial psychology from Iowa State University. She has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University and a number of executive development programs, including the Women's Executive Leadership Program at Smith-Tuck, the Human Resources Executive Development Program at Cornell University, and the Global Strategic Management Program at Harvard University.

Northrop Grumman Corporation has appointed James M. Myers sector vice president of mission assurance for the company's Electronic Systems sector, effective today.
In his new position, Myers will have executive responsibility for the program management functional organization and development and implementation of all mission assurance programs and processes across the sector, including quality assurance, design assurance, risk and opportunity management, independent reviews and assessments, and such process-improvement initiatives as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
Myers joined the company in 1997 at the former TRW Space & Electronics where he served as vice president of business development and, subsequently, vice president of strategic development with responsibility for strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, and portfolio and intellectual asset management. In 2003, he was named vice president of satellite communications and later served as vice president of payloads and sensors at Northrop Grumman's Aerospace Systems sector. For the past three years, Myers served as sector vice president and general manager of Northrop Grumman's Woodland Hills, Calif.-based Navigation Systems Division.
Myers earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University, a master's degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Stanford University, and a master's degree in business administration from the Anderson School of Management at University of California, Los Angeles.
He is a member of the board of the MATHCOUNTS Foundation, a nationwide enrichment, club and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement though grassroots involvement.

Mark Drinkwater, a British national, trained as a geophysicist and performed early pioneering research in the use of altimeter measurements over polar ice.
He currently heads the Mission Science Division at ESA-ESTEC in the Netherlands. The division is tasked with supplying scientific and technical support to the preparation, approval and development of ESA’s Earth observation missions, including the series of scientific Earth Explorers and the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) Sentinels.

Chromalloy announced today that aerospace industry veteran Dennis Miller will lead the company’s Midwest City, Okla., gas turbine engine maintenance and service center.
“Dennis brings many years of engine manufacturing, service and operational expertise to Chromalloy,” said Mike Beffel, Vice President, Operations. “His leadership in the industry serving both the commercial and military aircraft segments will help grow this business, and his operational expertise will take the facility to new levels of performance and efficiency.”
Most recently, Dennis was Vice President and General Manager at Smiths Group, PLC, a diversified global manufacturer of aerospace systems and other technologies. He led the Smiths Tubular Systems unit, a global aircraft engine services business, including development of new Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA) certifications and Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for aircraft engines.
He earlier worked at Teledyne Technologies, a global provider of information technology systems and services for defense, space, environmental and nuclear applications, where he was a senior manager in the company’s Turbine Engines division.
He earlier was Director of Engineering & Overhaul Operations at Gentz Industries, a provider of overhaul and repairs for aerospace components. Prior to that, Dennis worked for many years at GE Aircraft Engines as a Program Manager and Manufacturing & Quality Engineer. He began his career as an Engineer at Goodyear Tire & Rubber.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering technology from the University of Akron and an MBA from Xavier University. Miller has conducted training programs in Six Sigma, LEAN and other continuous improvement methodologies.

Wilson is transferring to Crane Aerospace & Electronics from the Crane Composites business segment where he has been Vice President, Human Resources since 2007. Prior to joining Crane, he began his career with United Parcel Service and has held increasingly progressive positions at Graphcom, Inc., General Signal Corporation, FedEx and the Penske Truck Leasing division of GE.

Kent Statler, 44, previously executive vice president, Rockwell Collins Services, has been named executive vice president and chief operating officer, Commercial Systems.
Statler has served in numerous leadership roles throughout his career at Rockwell Collins, including vice president of Manufacturing Operations, vice president of Lean Electronics, and vice president of Maintenance Operations for Rockwell Collins Services. Under his leadership, Maintenance Operations was recognized as a company Lean Electronics leader. Statler joined Rockwell Collins in 1987 and has held positions of increasing responsibility.
A native of Waverly, Iowa, Statler earned his bachelor's degree in manufacturing management and economics from the University of Northern Iowa. He earned his master of business administration degree from The University of Iowa.

Gregory (Greg) S. Churchill has been named executive vice president officer of Rockwell Collins International and Service Solutions.
Churchill, who is a 30-year employee of Rockwell Collins, had been vice president and general manager of Business and Regional Systems since June 2001. Churchill held several business development and program management positions before being named vice president of Business Development for Government Systems in February 2000.
A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Churchill earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial administration from Iowa State University.

Northrop Grumman Corporation announced today that its board of directors has elected Gloria A. Flach to the position of corporate vice president and president of Enterprise Shared Services organization, effective March 1, 2010. Flach will report directly to Wes Bush, chief executive officer and president and will serve on the company's Corporate Policy Council.
Flach will lead a newly consolidated Enterprise Shared Services organization. This consolidation is as an important element of the company's move to improve its operating and financial performance, bringing together a variety of service and support functions in one organization.
A 28-year veteran of Northrop Grumman, Flach has held a number of positions with increasing technical and management responsibility. She most recently served as vice president and general manager, Targeting Systems Division in the company's Electronic Systems sector. In 2004, she was appointed vice president and chief information officer for Electronic Systems. Previously, she was responsible for engineering, manufacturing and logistics across Electronic Systems.
Flach earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's degree in business administration from Loyola University in Maryland and was inducted into Loyola's Computer Science Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions in the field. Didier Lux has been appointed as Executive Vice President (EVP) Customer Services and will take up this position on 1st April 2010. Lux is currently EVP Quality and will succeed Charles Champion who has recently been chosen as EVP Engineering.
Didier Lux joined Airbus in 2004 as Head of Quality, and in September 2005 he was appointed EVP Quality. Lux began his career as a Flight Test Engineer at the French DGAC before joining Air Inter (the French domestic airline) where he held different positions in operations and maintenance. After the Air France/Air Inter merger he became Vice President Maintenance of Air France. In 2003 and until mid 2004 he worked for the French Railway Operator SNCF as Deputy Vice President Engineering and Maintenance.
Didier Lux, 55, is married with two children. He is a graduate of the French “Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile”.

In his role as Astrium Prime Project Manager, Klaus Köble has been leading these efforts for the past three years.
Klaus Köble, a German national, joined Astrium Friedrichshafen (DORNIER Satellite Systems at that time) in 1988. He gained several years of experience in design and assembly of Earth observation satellites and instruments.
Before moving to the CryoSat team, he worked for 10 years at Astrium as a System Engineer, Assembly, Integration and Testing Manager and Launch Manager in national and international space projects. Klaus joined the Astrium CryoSat team three years ago to take up the position of Astrium Prime Project Manager.

Duncan Wingham, a British national, is Professor of Climate Physics at University College London (UCL) where he is Head of the Department of Earth Sciences. He was the first Director of the Centre for Polar Observation and Modelling (CPOM) of the UK National Environmental Council (NERC). He is also Chairman of NERC Science, Innovation and Strategy Board (SISB).
Prof. Wingham was educated at Leeds and Bath Universities, UK, where he gained his BSc and PhD in Physics. Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced the appointment of David Reith as vice president of finance and controller for the company's Electronic Systems sector, effective immediately.
In his new position, Reith will provide controller oversight for the sector and will be responsible for all sector financial functions, including estimating and pricing, rates and budgets, government liaison, financial accounting and reporting, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, program planning and financial control, financial planning, and financial modeling.
Reith joined the company at Baltimore in 1987 in the business management organization and has held a number of management and executive-level positions at Electronic Systems and other Northrop Grumman sectors. In 2001, he was appointed business manager for the communications systems business and one year later was promoted to sector controller for the company's Newport News Shipbuilding sector.
In 2008, Reith was appointed vice president and controller for the Technical Services sector. He most recently served as business operations director and chief financial officer for National Security Technologies LLC, a joint venture led by Northrop Grumman's Technical Services sector, which was created to operate the Nevada Test Site for the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration.
