Southwest Airlines Celebrates 25 Years of LUV With Hundreds of Houston-Based Flight Attendants

 

 

 

DALLAS, April 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines' (NYSE: LUV) Inflight Base at William P. Hobby opened its doors 25 years ago this week and has grown to become the home base to more than 1,000 Flight Attendants who connect Houston Hobby to the nation. A week-long celebration featuring Employee recognitions, volunteerism and fun activities continues at the airport. As part of a strong alliance with the local Ronald McDonald House, Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants are among the Employees who volunteer the first Tuesday of every month to prepare meals and help House staff with any needs. Employees also volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House in Galveston. Southwest Employees proudly Share the Spirit through volunteering in the communities where they work and live.

"We've been in LUV with the City of Houston more than 40 years and our commitment remains strong," said, Scott Wells, Southwest Airlines Houston Inflight Base Manager. "With a total of more than two thousand Houston-based Employees currently under our wing, we're still growing, and proudly serving Southeast Texas in every way we can."

Southwest Airlines' commitment to the City of Houston goes beyond the airport. For the past six years, the MD Anderson Cancer Center has been a recipient of Southwest's Medical Transportation Grant Program, along with Texas Children's Hospital. In 2011-2012, Southwest's Employees have accumulated more than 9,000 hours of volunteer work in local organizations close to their hearts.
